రథసప్తమి నాడు ఉదయాన్నే తెల్ల జిల్లేడు ఆకులు 7 అందులో రేగికాయలను ఉంచుకొని తల మరియు భుజం పై పెట్టుకొని ఈ క్రింది శ్లోకాన్ని చదువుతూ స్నానం చేస్తే ఏడు విధాలైన శాపాలు నశిస్తాయట. 

 శ్లో॥ సప్తసప్తమహాసత్వసప్త ద్వీపావసుంధరా। 

 సప్తార్కపర్ణాన్యాదాయ సప్తమ్యాం స్నానమాచరేత్॥

 ప్రాత:స్నానం కరోమ్య, మాఘ పాప వినాశనం!" 

 అని మూడు మునకలు/చెంబులు వేసిన/ పోసుకున్న తరువాత ఈ క్రింది శ్లోకం చదువుతూ సూర్యనారాయణునికి అర్ఘ్యమివ్వాలి. 

"సవిత్రేప్రసవిత్రేచ! పరంధామజలేమమ! 

త్వత్తేజసా పరిబ్రష్టం,పాపం యాతు సస్రదా!". 

 సూర్యుడు నమస్కార ప్రియుడు... ఆయనకు ఆర్ఘ్యం సమర్పిస్తూ అంజలి ఘటించడం వలన ఆయురారోగ్యాలు సిద్ధిస్తాయి...
